Stop Sugar Shock!

This show is about sugar- literally and figuratively. The name comes from a book written by Connie Bennett, and the topics of the show have to do with health problems and eating in a healthy manner.

Connie has talked in the past about food sensitivities, and how, if you are ill, the potential culprit may be what you ate that didn’t agree with you; about the history and composition of Twinkies, one of the few foods that has been lauded as capable of withstanding nuclear attack; about mindless eating, and how it can affect not only your health, but your psyche as well; about longevity, and different tips from different sources that talk about how it really is possible to live to one hundred. One episode offers a soda challenge, asking listeners to give up soda for an entire summer, and another discussed corporate involvement in food advertising, and showed how they were targeting children with unhealthy snacks.

The episodes aren’t all about food: they’re about your mind as well. One called, “Reinvent Yourself: How to Make Your Dream Life Real” held an interview with Karen Quinn, author of Wife in the Fast Lane, and discussed goal-setting and achievement. In another show, Roberta Ruggiero, founder of the Hypoglycemia Support Foundation, talked to listeners about the condition and how it can affect your lifestyle without you knowing it - and why it’s considerably misunderstood by the public.

Connie holds her show weekly at 1 p.m., on Tuesdays.
