Frankie the Sports Guy

If you can’t get enough of those Mets, or you just have to know more about the Giants, then Frankie the Sports Guy is your man. Who better than a local New Yorker to take on tough sports questions surrounding the home town teams? Frankie approaches all kinds of sports related topics throughout his show, and he welcomes questions from callers. But be forewarned – this sports host is always ready with a competent comparison or a quirky comeback, so be on your toes!

Frankie has had an impressive array of guests on his show including Kathleen Robins (wife of Doug Robins), Glenn Yankow (VBLI), Jeannie Toy (tri-athlete) and Mike Silva. The best thing about this sports show is that Frankie doesn’t discriminate. HE will discuss all topics from water polo to lacrosse and everything in between. His style is quick to the point and well thought out, but this is one host that sure knows his stuff.

Not only does Frankie entertain callers, but (if you happen to be shy on the phone) his website www.frankiethesportsguy.com offers all listeners a chance to voice their opinion under the “what’s your beef?” category. Frankie will attempt to read as many emails as possible on the show, and allow other listeners to comment on particularly intriguing comments. Frankie encourages posters to “rant, rave, and vent,” so let him have it! If you love sports, and you love to talk about any event that is happening in New York, feel free to give Frankie a shout, or just tune in to his show on Monday nights.

The LCS Hockey Radio Show

"The LCS Hockey Radio Show"… not since "Get Smart Again" have so few words meant so much.

LCS Hockey was a true internet pioneer. Established in 1994, LCS Hockey (www.lcshockey.com) was one of the first hockey sites on the internet, earning a large, loyal following due to its informative, yet entertaining, coverage of the National Hockey League. During its initial five-year run, LCS Hockey gained full media credentials from the NHL and won numerous awards and honors, including twice being named the best hockey site on the net by Yahoo Internet Life.

After a lengthy hiatus, LCS Hockey is born again, returning to life in February of 2006 to chronicle the new, post-lockout NHL. Now that the web site is reestablished, LCS is hitting the airwaves to further their quest for world domination.

Michael Dell and Jerry Fairish host each episode of "The LCS Hockey Radio Show," discussing more than just hockey, with typical broadcasts including everything from classic TV and movies to ranking the best breakfast cereals. Fairish, a two-time state hollering champion, is deathly afraid of balloons and has a penchant for soup. Dell, LCS Hockey's creator and editor-in-chief, is aspiring to be an author of actual literature and recently published a collection of mystery stories called "Honest John Churchfield." Dell also enjoys avoiding people, painting scenes from classic TV shows, and writing letters of apology. He hopes to one day find a box of money.

"The LCS Hockey Radio Show" can be heard every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Catch it now before it knocks you over.

Atlanta Braves Postgame

Whenever the Atlanta Braves take the field, you know you can hear all about it on the "Atlanta Braves Postgame" radio show. Hosted by Eric Midcap, a lifelong Braves fan and a sophomore at West Virginia University, each 30-minute show provides a daily recap of Braves games as well as a preview of upcoming matchups.

After having their record string of 14 consecutive playoff appearances snapped in 2006, the Braves have rebounded in 2007 to once again be in contention for first place in the hotly-contested NL East. Currently locked in a tight race with the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies for the division crown, Atlanta greatly improved its chances at the trade deadline, acquiring switch-hitting first baseman Mark Teixeira from the Texas Rangers and veteran reliever Octavio Dotel from the Kansas City Royals.

Dotel will bolster an ailing bullpen, serving as a reliable set-up man for veteran closer Bob Wickman. Teixeira is the true steal, though. The 27-year-old slugger has already mashed 155 homeruns in his young career, possessing power from both sides of the plate. He'll give the Braves a dynamic cleanup hitter in the middle of an already fearsome lineup that includes such proven stars as Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, and Edgar Renteria, as well as promising young hitters like Jeff Francoeur and Brian McCann.

The ageless John Smoltz continues to anchor Atlanta's starting rotation, getting considerable help from fellow ace Tim Hudson, who's having a remarkable year in his own right. Youngsters Buddy Carlyle and Chuck James have performed above and beyond expectations, allowing fans to dream of a return trip to the postseason.

Pewter Radio

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans can tune into "Pewter Radio" to get all the latest news and analysis of their favorite football team.

After a surprising playoff run in 2005, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers collapsed in 2006, finishing dead last in the NFC South with a pitiful 4-12 record and missing the postseason for the third time in four seasons. It seemed everything that could go wrong did go wrong, making the brilliant Super Bowl campaign of 2002 seem like ancient history. But the Bucs are back for 2007, with hopes of recapturing their championship glory.

Tampa Bay will have a new starting quarterback this season in Jeff Garcia. The 37-year-old signal caller had a career renaissance last year in Philadelphia and brings a thorough knowledge of Jon Gruden's West Coast offense to the Buccaneer huddle. Garcia's transition to his new team will be made easier if running back Carnell "Cadillac" Williams can regain his rookie form of 2005 when he rushed for 1178 yards and six touchdowns. Williams, who has been hampered by injuries for much of his young career, will be looking to pound the rock all season, running behind an improved offensive line When Garcia does put the ball in the air, he'll be looking for receivers Joey Galloway and Michael Clayton, although second-year man Maurice Stovall could also emerge as a playmaking threat. But if the Bucs want to return to the playoffs, the defense, led by the venerable Derrick Brooks, will need to set the tone early in season-opening contests against offensive powers Seattle, New Orleans, and St. Louis.

Whatever happens to the Bucs this season, "Pewter Radio" will have it covered. New episodes are broadcast live every Sunday at 6PM EST.

DC Fanatics

If the Dallas Cowboys are your team, "DCFanatic Radio" is your radio show, covering everything there is to know about America's Team.

The 2007 NFL season promises to be an exciting one in Dallas. New head coach Wade Phillips is replacing the legendary Bill Parcells on the sidelines, bringing a fresh new approach to a Cowboys team that never quite lived up to its potential last season.

Perhaps Phillips' biggest challenge will be mentoring quarterback Tony Romo, who will be in his first full season as the starter. Romo came off the bench last year to spark a tremendous revival over the second half of the season, but his numbers started to fade down the stretch and he suffered the ignominy of dropping the snap on an easy chip-shot field goal in the waning moments of Dallas' crushing 21-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the opening round of the playoffs.

If Romo can put that embarrassment behind him, he'll have plenty of weapons at his disposal. The enigmatic Terrell Owens is healthy and ready to silence his critics, looking to improve on a solid albeit inconsistent first season with the Cowboys. Owens and fellow receivers Terry Glenn and Patrick Crayton, not to mention tight end Jason Witten, have the potential to wreck opposing secondaries. The running back tandem of Julius Jones and Marion Barber will devour defenses and rack up yardage like few combinations in football.

On the other side of the ball, Phillips will bring his expertise of the 3-4 scheme to Dallas' defense, finding ways to best utilize big play game-changers like linebacker DeMarcus Ware, defensive end Marcus Spears, and strong safety Roy Williams.

The only thing that will hit harder than the Dallas defense is "DCFanatic Radio," which airs weeknights at 10PM EST.

The Capital Fanatic.com Show

Since joining the National Hockey League in 1974, the Washington Capitals have yet to sip from the Stanley Cup. Yet even missing the playoffs in four of the past five seasons has done little to dampen the enthusiasm of the loyal Caps fan base. And now, thanks to "Capital Fanatic.com Show," those faithful fans have a place to talk hockey with others who share their puck passion.

Hosted by Washington native Allen Popels, who created the CapitalFanatic.com blog, the radio show will give a voice to Caps fans everywhere, letting them express their optimism and frustration with the current club, as well as remember the glorious past triumphs of such legendary Capitals as Rod Langway, Dennis Maruk, Mike Gartner, and Peter Bondra.

Hopes are high for the upcoming 2007-08 season. The Caps have retooled over the summer, adding free-agent centers Michael Nylander and Viktor Kozlov along with defenseman Tom Poti. Washington will also be welcoming prized rookie Nicklas Backstrom from Sweden. The slick playmaking center was drafted fourth overall in the 2006 Draft and will give the team yet another exciting offensive talent, joining sensational Russian snipers Alexander Ovechkin and Alexander Semin. And, of course, veteran goaltender Olaf Kolzig will return between the pipes, hoping to guide the young club back into playoff contention.

Perhaps the biggest news out of Washington, though, is the team's new uniforms that feature their original red, white, and blue color scheme and the classic "Capitals" crest. In harkening back to their past, the Capitals are hoping to forge a brilliant future. And the "Capital Fanatic.com Show" will be there to chronicle every slap shot, hip check, and clutch save along the way.

Cubs Talk Radio

"Cubs Talk Radio" is the place for fans of the Chicago Cubs to talk about their favorite team with the passion and loyal devotion that makes them so special in the world of professional sports.

Despite not having won a World Series since 1908, true fans of the beloved Cubbies have never given up hope, returning to Wrigley Field each and every Spring with the same rabid enthusiasm and boundless optimism, thinking this could be the year.

And 2007 could very well be the year. It's deep into the summer and the Cubs are still in contention in the National League's Central Division, well within striking distance of the first place Milwaukee Brewers. New Cubs manager Lou Piniella has infused the team with his trademark fiery intensity, using his raw emotion to inspire the club right into the thick of the pennant chase. Derek Lee has rebounded nicely from his wrist injury, once again leading the offensive charge, combining with the slugging Aramis Ramirez and newcomer Alfonso Soriano to provide the Cubs with their most fearsome lineup in years. And the starting rotation, so often riddled with injury, has gotten strong performances from Carlos Zambrano, Ted Lilly, and Jason Marquis, while youngsters Rich Hill and Sean Marshall continue to develop into potential aces.

"Cubs Talk Radio" will cover the Cubs like no one else, rolling out multiple one-hour broadcasts each week throughout the season and continuing through the winter months, because, as everybody knows, no true Cubs fan ever hibernates.

Hockey Night on Long Island

The New York Islanders returned to the NHL playoffs in 2006-07, but the best is yet to come. "Hockey Night on Long Island" hosts Alex and Steve will chronicle their beloved team's efforts as it strives for a return to its former championship glory.

Despite last season's success, it's been a turbulent time for the Islanders. Owner Charles Wang and General Manager Garth Snow finally bit the bullet and bought out underachieving captain Alexei Yashin's unwieldy contract, taking a salary cap hit in an effort to improve team chemistry. With Yashin gone, someone will need to emerge as a leader on and off the ice.

Ryan Smyth, who was acquired in a blockbuster deal at the trade deadline from Edmonton, would seem like a perfect candidate to assume the leadership mantle, but Smyth was determined to test the free agency market, making his time on Long Island painfully brief. Leading goal-scorer Jason Blake, who connected for a career-best 40 goals in 2006-07, will likely have a new home next season as well thanks to repeated squabbles with the front office.

Needless to say, it should be an interesting summer for the Islanders. They'll need to work hard and make all the right decisions just to keep pace with Atlantic Division foes like the New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, and those dreaded New York Rangers.

No matter what happens, rest assured "Hockey Night on Long Island" will have it covered. Tune in every Saturday at 3 p.m. EST and hear for yourself.

Sox and Pinstripes Radio

"Sox and Pinstripes Radio" takes you inside the best rivalry in sports, chronicling the never-ending battle between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.

An extension of the soxandpinstripes.com blog, the radio show will explore all things Red Sox and Yankees, debating the past, present, and future of the grand conflict. The idea is to create a forum for fans to talk a little baseball, share stories, and of course revel in the misery of the defeated opposition.

Hosts Jeff Louderback and Vincent Mercandetti represent both sides, marking perhaps the first time in history a Red Sox fan and a Yankee supporter have worked together for the common good.

Jeff is actually an Ohio native, but he grew up a Red Sox fan, worshipping the exploits of Boston legends like Jim Rice, Fred Lynn, Carlton Fisk, and Dwight Evans. He earned a communications degree from Wright State University and worked several years as a sports journalist before becoming a freelance writer and publicist, although his passion for the Red Sox never wavered.

Vince was born into a Yankee household, his family cheering the Bronx Bombers since the days of Babe Ruth. It's in his blood. He's currently attending Quinnipiac University, majoring in broadcast journalism.

On the upcoming July 1 show, Jeff and Vince will look at the Boston-New York blogosphere, introducing two prominent Red Sox and Yankee bloggers, engaging in what will surely be a lively discussion about the pressing issues facing both teams. Tune in and hear for yourself. The fun begins at 9 p.m. EST.
