Baseball Talk

Every Sunday at noon, "Baseball Talk" takes you out to the ball game, with hosts Carl "The Cabbie" and "Dugout" Joe covering all the news and notes from the big league diamond.

Carl "The Cabbie" Shimkin is a sportswriter from New York City whose nickname comes from his evening job of driving taxi. When not picking up fares, Carl runs the "Inside Pitch" baseball blog at MLBlogs, providing the kind of real insights into the game only a tried and true baseball fan can deliver. He's also a self-proclaimed fantasy baseball expert. Co-host "Dugout" Joe Boesch maintains the MLBlog "Dugout Diary" and also writes for The Baseball Report, Mets Daily, and FOX Sports Blogs. A Long Island native, he's authored the book "Game Notes: A Collection of Sports Stories," and he's currently working towards his Masters Degree in Communications.

"Baseball Talk" has an open invitation to other baseball bloggers to join the show. Carl and Joe recently interviewed Jake of the "Bucco Blog," talking about all things relating to the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates, and Zoe Rice of the New York Mets blog "Pick Me Up Some Mets."

Other recent broadcasts have included an examination of the ongoing struggles of the New York Yankees, a special Father's Day tribute with a look at some of the best father and son combinations in baseball history, and an interview with 1974 National League Cy Young Winner Mike Marshall, who's currently working to teach young pitchers proper mechanics to avoid elbow and arm injuries.
