Army Wife Talk Radio

Army Wife Talk Radio on BlogTalkRadio is making waves throughout the listener base. The weekly one-hour show is produced by Tara Crooks and deals with the issues military wives face every day.

Crooks is a freelance writer and “military mom expert” who has been successful in personal business ventures as well as in raising her children. She started Army Wife Talk Radio in March of 2005 after being inspired by Kelly McCausey’s “Shoestring Radio.” Crooks, who recently celebrated her ten-year anniversary with her husband, prides herself on being able to motivate and educate people in their everyday lives.

Army Wife Talk Radio exists as a support group for all military wives. The show covers a multitude of topics surrounding family life, coping, and parenting. Most of all, it helps other military wives through stressful times and reminds them just how much of a sacrifice they and their husbands are making. It reminds them that love prevails even over hardship.

There are other contributors to Army Wife Talk Radio besides Crooks. Star Henderson, who is in charge of the online newsletter, has degrees in both Scientific and Technical Writing, as well as a masters in Professional Counseling, which she hopes to use to counsel military families. Sheryl Kurland is the marriage counselor on the show, having written a book about what makes relationships work. Her experience came from a massive project of interviewing couples who have been married for more than fifty years. Dr. Karen DeBord is the parenting expert, having graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science and Ph. D. in Family and Child Development.
