Lionus LIVE & Unleashed

Ok, I’ll admit, when I first happened upon this radio show I was intrigued by the show’s mascot (a big fuzzy dog), but when I started to read the show profile I became convinced that Lionus LIVE & Unleashed was worth a listen.

Lionus Lavida is a resident of Malibu, California, with a funny take on progressive politics. Lionus’ perspective on politics is “a seriously comedic examination of why ‘Mom, Apple Pie & Chevrolet’ are all packed in a box and on their way to the Museum of Remember when?” This seems to sum up the show to perfection. Lionus’ audience will hear current issues discussed, political leaders ridiculed, and the overall world of politics highly criticized.

Lionus has many connections throughout the political world, which makes his show particularly interesting to listen to. As he talks about personal conversations he has had with great political leaders and public figures, listeners will laugh along with him as he calls each target of his show by their first name, and proceeds to hold a monologue based no his findings.

This comedic session lasts one hour per week and is usually screen on Monday nights around 7 pm (West Coast time). Lionus welcomes callers that offer additional political commentary, or simply want to share a few laughs. Lionus also has a producer hidden somewhere in his studio, and her laughter can be heard throughout the show, which makes the show multi-dimensional and a roaring good time. Lionus has many listeners, and his “call-in” board tends to light up rather quickly, so if you want to get in on the political action tune in on time and start dialing when the show beings. If you can’t get enough of political commentary and you love to laugh at the entire political world as a whole, tune in to Lionus LIVE & Unleashed.

Radio Patriot

Tired of “politics as usual?” Then tune into the “Radio Patriot” with your host Andrea Shea King. King is an Orlando, Florida, radio show host who has recently decided to reach all possible listeners via the internet. She will talk about politics, but you may or may not want to hear all that she has to say. This red, white, and blue toting personality will introduce radio listeners to prominent guests and political ideals all her own. Her Florida listeners have known her famous voice for years, and as they follow her to the Radio Patriot show, nothing much has chanced with the exception of the media format.

Andrea Shea King is known for her unique take on American politics, beginning with the philosophy that “limited government” should “based on the Constitution.” That means that all of her shows will have a special constitutional twist. Modern day politics will be scoured with a fine toothed historical comb, in order to present the present from the viewpoint of the past – after all history does tend to repeat itself.

What can listeners learn from engaging in politics within this historical spectrum? Well, perhaps if history is apparent, the present state of the world will be better prepared for future happenings. For example – and one highly debated topic that King will discuss – the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. This conflict has been ensuing for generations with no real resolution in sight. Will history just keep on reflecting the past?

These are the types of questions that King will present, all debated with future, unknown, guests. The political upheaval throughout the world is wildly spreading, and there is no better time than now to look to the past for answers within the future. It is the goal of King to help curb listeners’ opinions based on relics such as The Constitution, The Founding Fathers, and The American Revolution. It’s time to tune in and voice your opinion, whether you believe in looking to the past or not.

True Outspeak

Who says that a modern day Socrates doesn’t exist? If you are looking to tune into a great political and philosophical mind, you will want to listen to “True Outspeak.” This show is hosted by non other than Olavo de Carvalho, a Brazilian philosopher that is known world wide for his differing views and opinions based on real life experiences.

Carvalho talks about the differences between humanity and collective authority, along with what the public can do to enhance the individual conscience. Carvalho uses ancient religions such as Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in order to emphasize his belief the power of human intelligence. Carvalho discusses international politics in his native language of Portuguese throughout his show, but his works are often translated on his website.

Not only is this man a radio host, he has also written many books, text, political papers, academic theses, conducted interviews, and taught courses at local Universities. Carvalho argues that American politics cannot possibly understand the full extent that the state of Brazil and its politics are in – therefore Carvalho is very critical towards American politicians.

This show is not for the politically weak of heart, but it is a great show to get any mind reeling. Carvalho has completely opened up his arguments to any form of discussion or attack, and fans can reach him on his show or via email. For an hour that is truly full of great thoughts, ideas, and opinions, tune in to ‘True Outspeak’ – or forever hold your peace.

Media Lizzy

If you are seeking placid, politically correct coverage of the upcoming presidential campaign, or anything politically charged, the Media Lizzy Show is not for you. However, if you would like to explore the world of politics in an uncensored fashion, tune in to the Media Lizzy radio show in order to hear about the world of politics from a host who is really – “just a girl.”

Media Lizzy (Lizzy Blackney) may seem sweet and innocent, but that is just one of her many ploys. This former political party and candidate mouthpiece has turned to radio to voice her true opinion about all things political. Some of Media Lizzy’s latest show have included subjects such as “The First Mistress, the First Lady & the Presidential ‘sex’ factor,” “America’s moral authority over human rights and other issues,” and “The most provocative 15 minutes of breaking political news and opinion.” In fact, all of Lizzy’s topic seem to have a sexually charged theme including the weekly “political quickie,” but mixing up sex and politics is just the type of thing that Media Lizzy is bound to do, so listen attentively, you never know what you may hear.

Though she has often been described as “provocative,” perhaps “contentious” is a better word. Although Lizzy sets out to voice her own opinion, she often incites heated arguments and strong debates based upon her own words. Her latest commentary consisted of an observation made on Barak Obama’s behalf, which included the words “big boy pants,” or – in Lizzy’s opinion – the lack thereof in Obama’s case. Smart, sassy, and intuitive her show is a must for any fan of the political world – whether you agree with her or not.

Gibbs, the show's host and the founder of the politicalpistachio.com blog, fights for the Right each and every Saturday at 7 p.m. EST, inspiring a loyal following with his own brand of grassroots Conservatism.

Recent "Political Pistachio" broadcasts have run the gamut, covering a myriad of interesting topics. Cary Carter, a hard-working everyman who just happens to be running for President of the United States as a write-in candidate, even paid a visit to talk about the progress of his 2008 campaign. Bob Anderson, the founder of "What Are We Fighting For?" informed everyone about his group's belief that every American citizen should earn and fight for his or her continued freedoms.

Blue Jersey Radio

The definitive voice in New Jersey politics, "Blue Jersey Radio" covers the Garden State like no one else. Hosts Jeff Gardner and Jay Lassiter deliver their progressive views and keen political insights each and every Saturday from 10:30-11 a.m. EST. They'll keep you up to date with the latest buzz out of Trenton, interviewing the newsmakers and accepting your calls live on the air.

Recent broadcasts have featured New Jersey Senate candidate Gina Genovese live from the Democratic State Committee's Women's Campaign Training, Tom Wyka on New Jersey's Clean Election Program, and discussions on such topics as New Jersey presidential politics, civil unions, and eminent domain. Jeff and Jay even took time out to bestow the coveted Best-Dressed Legislator Award.

"Blue Jersey Radio" is an extension of the bluejersey.com blog, which was established in September of 2005 to be the progressive source for political news, analysis, and activism in New Jersey. The blog not only offers news and opinion, it's also an entire interactive community, allowing members to submit stories and post their own diary entries. People can even show their political pride with official Blue Jersey T-shirts.

Blue Jersey has received plenty of attention from traditional media outlets like the Associated Press, The New York Times, and the New Jersey Star Ledger. It's also been referenced numerous times on the National Journal's Hotline, and it was even featured on MSNBC's "Blog Connection."

Perhaps Democratic New Jersey congressman Rush Holt said it best when he so boldly proclaimed, "Blue Jersey keeps the political activity alive."

The Bearing Drift

In nautical terms, a bearing drift describes the location of an approaching object in relation to the ship. Once the ship's bearing, or direction, is determined, the object in question is observed to detect any drift to the left or right. If there is no drift, the two will collide unless the appropriate action is taken. In most cases, this means the ship must bear to the right.

The "Bearing Drift" believes a similar course of action would benefit the United States, with a political move to the right solving most of the country's problems. The weekly half-hour broadcast, which airs every Sunday at 7PM EST, will deliver the best information, opinion, and news from the Virginia political scene.

Host Jim Hoeft, the administrator of the bearingdrift.com blog, is a proud member of the Republican party and a veteran of numerous political campaigns in Hampton Roads, Virginia. He's also served on the Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Chesapeake as well as the Central Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia.

The show has given attention to the Virginia primary debates, covering Tricia Stall versus Sen. Marty Williams in the 1st Senate District and Carolyn Weems versus Chris Stolle for the 83rd House of Delegates in Virginia Beach. Jim has also landed interviews with other influential newsmakers like former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Attorney General Bob McDonnell, Senator George Allen, and Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling.

If it's happening in Virginia politics, you'll hear it on "Bearing Drift."

The Media Lizzy Show

Tired of boring, staid political programming? "The Media Lizzy Show" is for you, delivering sassy and even naughty analysis of politics and the entertainment industry, all from a right-leaning perspective.

One of the most entertaining of the next-generation conservatives, host Lizzy Blackney brings her refreshingly provocative point of view to every aspect of the Washington D.C. political scene. She's preparing for the upcoming presidential campaign as only she can, combining People magazine charm with CNN coverage to examine the candidates, looking for who's "sexiest," and in the process commenting on the fickleness and superficiality of American voters. According to Media Lizzy, women vote with their ideal mate in mind. And these "drive-by" voters, who don't look deep into the issues, could very well determine the next election.

On the July 2 edition of "The Media Lizzy Show," Blackney will interview author Matt Margolis about his new book "Caucus of Corruption," an intriguing look at the Democrats running Congress.

Blackney is also the author of "Sex, Lies & Politics," in which she gives her trademark opinionated views on U. S. politics and the global war on terror. She boldly asserts America did find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in the form of Islamic extremists. Whether you agree or disagree, there's never any question as to where Blackney stands.

If you don't have time to catch the full hour of "The Media Lizzy Show," Blackney also broadcasts "Politricks: The Big Tease," a weekly, 15-minute wrap of all the breaking news and headlines. Consider it your political quickie in preparation for the Sunday TV shows.

YOUTHinkLeft?

Blogs really do bring people together, and what better example than YOUTHinkLeft? The left-wing blog project has really taken off, and now they’ve brought their voice to BlogTalkRadio. The gaggle of bloggers may be geographically and generationally diverse, but they all share a common goal: bring the voice of America’s youth to the mainstream, one blog at a time.

The common thread is the 2008 elections, now that we’re at the end of the Bush era. The writer group, ranging from 7th graders to college graduates, consists of Aryeh, Brendon Schweers, Daisy Bond, David Robinson, Emily Oppenheimer, Emily Stephens, FrecklesCassie, and Hilary Lee Wong. Together, they’re hoping to ensure that today’s youth understands the issues facing the next election and takes action. They want to make sure that whether the readers are of voting age or not, voting is present in their minds. The more passionate people are about the election, the better a chance we have of getting our voices heard.

Unlike most youth-aimed political movements, this one boasts a for-youth by-youth format that really appeals to the debate-conscious teens and young adults out there. The blog format is a perfect way to bring together like-minded individuals for collaboration on a writing project such as this. The group, which is always looking for new contributors, airs their show on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Brendon Schweers hosts the segment, and encourages as many calls as possible to stimulate debate.
