From Rosie the Riveter to today’s Navy wife, those left behind as their loved ones march to war have found a simple, yet true, comfort in knowing that they are not alone in the world. Beth Wiruth has decided to open up the talking floodgates when it comes to her husband, her life, and her duty as a Navy wife. The Dork Forest

Comedian Jackie Kashian wants you to talk about your obsession – no matter what it might be. Her talk show “The Dork Forest” is an eclectic mix of all things obsessive. Show listeners are prompted to call in and tell Jackie about the strange and bizarre things that they just can’t live without, but be forewarned – this girl has a wryly sense of humor!

Jackie and her co-host Joe chat about “dorky” items that cross their paths and include anything from musicals to comic books, but usually most callers seem to talk about their lives as comedians. Did you know that there are lots of comedians out there? Jackie’s radio show is just full of callers dialing in to make a joke or two, but some of them bring more serious matters to the show as well.

Although they may appear calm and collected, many comedians are really shaking in their boots when they reach the stage and stare down at all those expectant faces. Jackie’s guests often talk to her about their stage fright fears and other tips and tricks that surround the comedic industry. Sometimes Jackie and Joe tap into obsessions that the caller wasn’t even aware of, but once they have a hold of anything “dork-like” they are not likely to let go, so watch out.

This show’s new season will begin on Thursday, September 12th, 2007 from 4-5 pm Pacific Standard Time. If you are an aspiring comedian, or you just want to tune in and listen to some interesting obsessions, the “Dork Forest Radio” show will leave you wanting more every time.

Autism News Radio

Parents that have children with autism really go through a lot when it comes time to find an education for their child. Many people believe that certain school districts actually force autistic children out of certain schools due to a lack of funding. The talk show “Autism News Radio” aims to get to the bottom of the autism education fiasco, and host Greg Wiatt believes that he has uncovered the secret behind autistic education.

Whether you know someone dealing with autism or not, this radio show will certainly bring many facets of this disorder to light. According to Wiatt, over 200,000 Americans have been diagnosed with autism, which costs the U.S. over seven billion dollars per year. Wiatt believes that by literally forcing autistic children from one school district to another, the government is aiming at reducing the costs of maintaining autistic education. Wiatt will introduce his listening public to various families throughout the country that have dealt with teachers making statements such as “we hope that this program fails as we don’t want him in here” (pertaining to an autistic boy). Additionally, Wiatt will attempt to address various school board members, teaching aids, and teacher in general who insist that there is no room within public education for autistic children.

This talk show is attempting to make a difference – are you listening? “Autism News Radio” will debut on October 1st, 2007 at 3 pm Eastern Standard Time. Wiatt expects listeners to call into his show and ask him about certain policies and procedures. Hopefully, when Wiatt speaks the world will be listening and education policies will begin to change with the United States in regards to autism.

Shaun Omac Radio

Shaun Omac’s radio show really began with a childhood memory. Back when Omac was a boy, he used to spend days inside of his grandfather’s care reading the three local Chicago newspapers. From a ripe young age, Shaun began to notice the differences between the three papers and the types of news that each paper ran. You see, every paper chooses to run different stories based upon their own ideals, and the ideals of their readers.

Even though a young Omac thought some stories should have been carried in all three papers, this equality hardly ever happened. Omac’s grandfather taught his the difference between news and reader opinion, which prompted Omac to seek out a career in the radio industry. Today, Shaun Omac attempts to bring “real news” to listeners everywhere by talking about local stories and other news items that simply aren’t streamed on CNN.

Like most radio show hosts that truly believe in their topic, Omac invites listeners to call into his show with any recent news story, or topic that should be discussed. Shaun also tends to bring his listener relationship one step further with his blog www.shaunomacradio.com. This blog not only states his opinion, but it lists the many ideas and thoughts that his readers have brought to his attention.

Perhaps the most entertaining segment of Omac’s show occurs on Sunday evenings, which are dubbed “Potluck Sunday Review(s).” During this time, Shaun may discuss anything from current political views to the order in which his listeners get dressed. No matter who his guests happens to be, or what his topic might turn into, Shaun Omac’s radio show “Shaun Omac Radio” is worth a moment, or two, of your time.

Dr. Simon’s fairly recent talk radio show “The Stories We Live By” is seeking to change the way that each person deals, internally, with their own life. Dr. Simon intends to “inform and educate the consumer and professional communities about the myth that human unhappiness, emotional pain and conflict, are medical conditions to be treated with psychiatric drugs ...”

Dr. Simon is a former Professor Emeritus of Psychology and a retired Chief Psychologist at Southeast Nassau Guidance Center in New York City. His shows will be based upon small “myths” that we often tell ourselves, but “deep down” we know that they simply aren’t true. Previous segments have included titles such as “Stories From a Time Warp,” “A Story About Addiction,” “A Story About Mental Health,” “Political Stories and Human Relationships,” and “Psychiatry’s Big Fantasy.” You may be surprised to hear what Dr. Simon has to say during each of these segments. His calming voice and everyday vocabulary tends to draw a listener in, whether you realize it or not. Perhaps this is because Dr. Simon is simply speaking truth – truth that most people are aware of, but will not likely admit.

You don’t have to visit a psychologist on a daily basis to listen to Dr. Simon, and you certainly don’t have to believe in all that he has to say – but, you might be hard pressed to come up with a viable argument based upon his thoughts. These half hour shows are really quite addicting, and they will provide you with a way of thinking that may not be exactly what you are used to. For a bit of clarity that comes from “outside of the box” tune into “The Stories We Live By,” and allow Dr. Laurence Simon to question your very soul.

Inspire!

To hear the words “you have breast cancer” is every woman’s biggest nightmare, and yet approximately three million women within the United States are currently living with some form of breast cancer. It used to be that breast cancer was one of those “hushed” diseases – something that happened, but was rarely discussed. Thankfully, the negative stigma attached to breast cancer has changed, and today many breast cancer survivors speak up and work together in order to find a cure, bring hope, and simply provide moral support to those in need. The magazine Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine is a great source of inspiration for those women affected by breast cancer, and the talk show “Inspire!” is an extension of this magazine, which offers women an active voice and an ear that listens to their every concern.

The “ear” listening is Carolyn Gross, survivor and talk show host. Gross’ goal is to provide an “internet radio show for empowering breast cancer healing journeys.” Carolyn’s first radio show debuted on September 5th, 2007, and it turned out to be a big hit with many breast cancer victims across the nation. Carolyn attempts to bring stories of survival to the radio waves each Wednesday at 5 pm. Her half hour segment really breathes life into those that are listening teary eyed and hopeless. Many women take comfort in knowing that there are ways to heal breast cancer, that surgery does not have to be the only option, and that many other women have survived this horrific disease.

Not only will Carolyn aim to bring stories to her show from survivors, she will also introduce her audience to breast cancer experts, medical experts, and mind and body experts – all things which breast cancer victims are more than willing to hear. Surviving breast cancer means being aware, and Carolyn knows how to bring education and little known facts to her listeners. Although this show has just begun, it is sure to shed a bit of light onto a scary subject. If you know anyone who is battling breast cancer, or simply someone who has been affected by it, you may want to urge them to tune into Carolyn Gross’ talk show “Inspire!”

Oscar, Oscar

Here’s looking at you – to tune into “Oscar, Oscar” every Monday Night at 10 PM CST. Your host, Jason O’Brien is the epitome of the term “Oscar Buzz.” But this host consists of more than just the latest gossip and the hottest new releases, he has a penchant for the oldies that make the silver screen so great.

On O’Brien’s personal website www.oscarworld.net, he even rates the “ten best films of the year” and lists his own personal choices if he “voted for the Oscars.” The top films of 2006 according to O’Brien? (1) “United 93,” (2) “The Departed,” (3) “Little Children,” (4) “Letters From Iwo Jima,” (5) “Dreamgirls,” (6) “Casino Royale,” (7) “The Queen,” (8) “World Trade Center,” (9) “Prairie Home Companion,” and (10) “Rocky Balboa.” If you find yourself nodding in agreement at some of the film, or if you find yourself strongly disagreeing, why not tune or call into O’Brien’s show and voice your own theatrical opinion?

O’Brien explains on his site that he simply has a passion for all that is Oscar. Why? For the simple love of the film industry. In his own words “The Academy Awards are the only awards show that are solely devoted to honoring the entire craft of filmmaking.” Carefully considering that statement leads any reader to believe that O’Brien is entirely correct. After all, how many costume designers or make up people are honored in any other awards shows? Additionally, O’Brien respects the ways in which the Oscars tend to look at the entire film crew – including the often largely ignored script writers. Sure, the world remembers Humphrey Bogart, but do they remember the writer that made his famous? O’Brien seems to take a realistic approach to the art of movie making, and his show is truly a reflection of the delicate move craft.

Entrepreneurs on the Move

What if all the entrepreneurs in the world got together and combined know-how, resources, and factual information? This is exactly the concept that “Entrepreneurs on the Move” is based upon, but this idea is about more than a radio show.

“Entrepreneurs on the Move” is actually a non-profit organization that consists of a board of directors and an executive director aimed at combining the entrepreneurial spirit. This corporation conducts seminars, workshops and community outreach programs. Additionally, the company aims at sharing proven concepts behind various marketing techniques, public speaking events, and personal business coaching. Their mission is to help out young entrepreneurs by providing lifestyle coaching and organized workshops based on tried and true tactics. Although the company is relatively young (founded 2007), the number of listeners that their show currently has seems to indicate a strong future.

Various radio show guests have included actor Sean Blakemore, producer Rob Murat, Miss New York, various comedians, and other successful business leaders. Your hosts Carla B., Ramona, and Theresa will teach you everything from how to handle a mortgage from how to start your own business. Each guest is highly questioned by these three self professed “divas.” Questions range from how to build up a complete portfolio, how to marketing yourself, how to successfully deal with business pitfalls, and how to use tools to “reshape your Life into a better tomorrow.” If you are just starting out in the business world, or if you have some valuable information to share tune in to “Entrepreneurs on the Move” every evening at 7 pm (Eastern Time).

DryerBuzz & Company Live

Have you ever wanted to create a buzz that could be heard all around the world? Well, Yolanda Lattimore (“Dryer”) can make it happen, and that’s what she does best --- “create the buzz behind the buzz.” If you tune in to DryerBuzz & Company Live, you will hear all about today’s news and gossip headlines, with a twist.

Yolanda has actually built a successful company upon the notion that the world needs to hear the right kind of news. That means that whatever sort of story Yolanda and her listeners find interesting, she will make it her business to widely circulate the gossip. The show’s name “DryerBuzz” actually came from a hair salon. Yolanda and her friends made it a habit of talking about current events whilst sitting underneath hair dryers, so they turned their heated debates into a newsletter which was circulated around the salon weekly. Customers so loved the newsletters that they eventually began asking Yolanda to distribute and publicize various stories and ideas; her talk radio show reflects this idea.

Yolanda discusses current events such as hot new books, sports news, celebrity news, and political news, but this talk show is mainly about having fun. She is also a strong supporter of African American businesses within Atlanta, and the African American community as a whole. If you have a news story, or a thought about a news story, you can visit Yolanda’s radio show every Monday night and voice your opinion. This is one radio show host that is not afraid to see any sort of position, no matter how outlandish it may seem. If you have a burning topic that you want to get out to the rest of the world, don’t wait. Tune into DryerBuzz & Company Live to join in the fun.

Lionus LIVE & Unleashed

Ok, I’ll admit, when I first happened upon this radio show I was intrigued by the show’s mascot (a big fuzzy dog), but when I started to read the show profile I became convinced that Lionus LIVE & Unleashed was worth a listen.

Lionus Lavida is a resident of Malibu, California, with a funny take on progressive politics. Lionus’ perspective on politics is “a seriously comedic examination of why ‘Mom, Apple Pie & Chevrolet’ are all packed in a box and on their way to the Museum of Remember when?” This seems to sum up the show to perfection. Lionus’ audience will hear current issues discussed, political leaders ridiculed, and the overall world of politics highly criticized.

Lionus has many connections throughout the political world, which makes his show particularly interesting to listen to. As he talks about personal conversations he has had with great political leaders and public figures, listeners will laugh along with him as he calls each target of his show by their first name, and proceeds to hold a monologue based no his findings.

This comedic session lasts one hour per week and is usually screen on Monday nights around 7 pm (West Coast time). Lionus welcomes callers that offer additional political commentary, or simply want to share a few laughs. Lionus also has a producer hidden somewhere in his studio, and her laughter can be heard throughout the show, which makes the show multi-dimensional and a roaring good time. Lionus has many listeners, and his “call-in” board tends to light up rather quickly, so if you want to get in on the political action tune in on time and start dialing when the show beings. If you can’t get enough of political commentary and you love to laugh at the entire political world as a whole, tune in to Lionus LIVE & Unleashed.

Diva Marketing Talks

Diva marketing host “Toby” is seeking to help the internet out one blog at a time. This talk show is all about ways in which to make your blog stand out, how to promote your company on the internet, and how to successfully market your product whatever it may be. Why would she want to do this? “To help organizations understand social media marketing and how to join the conversation without getting blown-up.” This is not an easy task for marketing newbies, and most types of consulting such as this will cost entrepreneurs a great deal of money, but Toby is giving out this advice for free.

Toby grew up in Boston, but moved to Atlanta during recent years. Her love and knowledge of marketing stems from her childhood when her father first piqued her interest. Toby’s dad ran a successful data collection company, which she immediately took an interest to. When the internet entered into Toby’s life around 1997, she could envision a way of marketing that was unlike any other. Her original intentions were to find a way to bring small town America back into the spotlight via the internet. Toby wanted to find the lost corner stores and small town candy shops of yesteryear somewhere in the land of the internet – she viewed the web as a sort of alternative universe, a place where the world could remember the idea behind small town values.

Today, not only is she a talk show host, but she has made her living as speaker of Social Media Marketing. She has worked with the American Marketing Association, the Olympic Organizing Committee and SCORE. Additionally, she has had numerous articles published in marketing magazines. Now she aims at finding a way “to share the cool things I stumble across that could make life easier and more fun for marketers in a casual, exciting, environment.” This is one of the reasons she began her radio show and her Diva Marketing Blog (www.bloombergmarketing.com). If you need a bit of advice, tune in to Toby’s show in order to hear the wisdom and years that his marketing genius is more than wiling to share.

Concept of Change

Jennifer Ehidiamen of Nigeria is taking a stand for all youth across the world, so if you fall into this category – or if you just want to hear some very intelligent thoughts surrounding youth culture – tune in to “Concept of Change.” This radio show is all about giving young people a voice. In order to best explain this show, Ehidiamen’s own words put the problem of youth into the best perspective “Is the syndrome of young people should be seen and not heard still in existence in this generation?” She brings up the very valid point that young people can offer new ideas and outlooks upon existing problems, and asks that adults are not so quick to judge.

Additionally, on Ehidiamen’s show you will take part in discussions such as “dress kulture,” “sounds of poetry,” ‘youths speakout,” and “Speak Out!” Each topic is aimed at opening up discussions amongst the younger generation throughout the world. Jennifer enjoys listeners from nearly every country on her show, and she has even created a blog that is chalk full of well thought out articles pertaining to current events and topics that deserve an international voice.

Jennifer is brining awareness to the AIDS problem along with many other political issues involving youths. Additionally, she has even written a book entitled “Youth Making Change,” which highlights some of her biggest concerns. This show is a great way to learn about the problems and encounters that youths face today, whether you want to take part in the discussion, or you just want to hear a different perspective tune in to Jennifer’s show and listen to the beat of a different drum.

After Life FM

Have you ever wondered about life after death? Does the supernatural intrigue you? How about giving the “After Life FM” show a try? Marcel Cairo brings validity to the all of the hype surrounding the after life. IN fact, he encourages readers to “put away your Ouija boards and hold on to your crystal balls.” This is one “spiritual outlaw” that attempts to connect callers with the beyond.

Marcel outlines his “three basic consciousness survival questions” as:

Does the mind exist separately from the brain?
Can consciousness survive once the brain has died?
Does postmortem consciousness communication exist and can it be personally verified?

Marcel answers affirmatively to all of these questions, but he goes on to point out that an individual belief is “subject to view point.” He also states that acting as a medium is a skill attained, not a gift – which is in contradiction to a lot of other psychic shows. He explains to his listeners that he has worked to perfect his craft, in order to act as a go-between. Marcel wants only to bring communication between the spirit world and the tangible world, but he is against any sort of “new age platitudes about love and light.”

His shows are based upon a relatively simple format. Marcel waits for a caller to contact him, he then proceeds to act as a messenger. However, Marcel tends to mix things up a bit with a slight edge of humor surrounding each call, which is overly refreshing. He states that sometimes the spirit world puts him in a bit of an uncomfortable situation by asking him to pose questions that may not be appropriate for a public audience. For those that may not believe in this sort of craft, consider these words from Marcel “Death is temporary, but feels eternal. Life is eternal, but feels temporary.” For your chance to be heard or to listen, tune in to the “After Life FM” show.
