Frankie the Sports Guy

If you can’t get enough of those Mets, or you just have to know more about the Giants, then Frankie the Sports Guy is your man. Who better than a local New Yorker to take on tough sports questions surrounding the home town teams? Frankie approaches all kinds of sports related topics throughout his show, and he welcomes questions from callers. But be forewarned – this sports host is always ready with a competent comparison or a quirky comeback, so be on your toes!

Frankie has had an impressive array of guests on his show including Kathleen Robins (wife of Doug Robins), Glenn Yankow (VBLI), Jeannie Toy (tri-athlete) and Mike Silva. The best thing about this sports show is that Frankie doesn’t discriminate. HE will discuss all topics from water polo to lacrosse and everything in between. His style is quick to the point and well thought out, but this is one host that sure knows his stuff.

Not only does Frankie entertain callers, but (if you happen to be shy on the phone) his website www.frankiethesportsguy.com offers all listeners a chance to voice their opinion under the “what’s your beef?” category. Frankie will attempt to read as many emails as possible on the show, and allow other listeners to comment on particularly intriguing comments. Frankie encourages posters to “rant, rave, and vent,” so let him have it! If you love sports, and you love to talk about any event that is happening in New York, feel free to give Frankie a shout, or just tune in to his show on Monday nights.

Radio Patriot

Tired of “politics as usual?” Then tune into the “Radio Patriot” with your host Andrea Shea King. King is an Orlando, Florida, radio show host who has recently decided to reach all possible listeners via the internet. She will talk about politics, but you may or may not want to hear all that she has to say. This red, white, and blue toting personality will introduce radio listeners to prominent guests and political ideals all her own. Her Florida listeners have known her famous voice for years, and as they follow her to the Radio Patriot show, nothing much has chanced with the exception of the media format.

Andrea Shea King is known for her unique take on American politics, beginning with the philosophy that “limited government” should “based on the Constitution.” That means that all of her shows will have a special constitutional twist. Modern day politics will be scoured with a fine toothed historical comb, in order to present the present from the viewpoint of the past – after all history does tend to repeat itself.

What can listeners learn from engaging in politics within this historical spectrum? Well, perhaps if history is apparent, the present state of the world will be better prepared for future happenings. For example – and one highly debated topic that King will discuss – the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. This conflict has been ensuing for generations with no real resolution in sight. Will history just keep on reflecting the past?

These are the types of questions that King will present, all debated with future, unknown, guests. The political upheaval throughout the world is wildly spreading, and there is no better time than now to look to the past for answers within the future. It is the goal of King to help curb listeners’ opinions based on relics such as The Constitution, The Founding Fathers, and The American Revolution. It’s time to tune in and voice your opinion, whether you believe in looking to the past or not.

WritersLifeChats

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be a published author? Is the life of an author glamorous, or simply a lot of hard work? If you are an aspiring writer, you might want to tune into “WritersLifeChats,” weekly at 8 pm (Eastern Time). Your host Kisha Green offers a chance for listeners to call in and chat with successful DivaBooksInc publishing house authors.

This radio show exists solely to “educate interested readers and fellow writers on the business of writing.” Each show introduces a new writer and is aimed at allowing readers and writers a chance to learn the business behind the writing glamour. Subjects include the ways in which to get around that ever-present “unsolicited material not accepted” statement that publishing houses tend to put out; how to effectively deal with a literary agent; how to self publish material; ways to get your writing out there (even if it is on the internet!); and ideas behind the business aspect of writing.

Today, there is a lot more behind writing a book than simply putting thoughts and words on a piece of paper. Writers must be business savvy as the publishing world can be brutal. Make sure you know how to effectively market your stuff and understand that rules of the writing game. What better way to learn all about the writing craft than to hear about it from a published author’s mouth? For your chance at fame, or to just listen in and learn about one of the most difficult trades, tune in to Writer’s Life Chats this week.

Black Southern Doctors

Today, the mere thought of the “olde south” may bring images of magnolia trees and sweet southern tea to mind, but back in the days of the Jim Crowe law this southern story book image was a whole lot different. The show “Black Southern Doctors” explores the history of doctors within the Jim Crowe South.

The producers and writers of this show have spent an enormous amount of time researching and investigating doctors that attempted to work within the strict laws surrounding them during the time of southern slavery. Interestingly, this show is also a series of documentaries that attempt to follow various doctors throughout the centuries in order to accurately trace African American history.

The concept of “Black Southern Doctors” is the brainchild of Nephrologist Dr. Bill Cleveland, a practitioner out of Atlanta, Georgia. African American doctors have had to face many trials throughout their careers, and the stories that they have to tell are of great interest to any pre-Civil war buff. Dr. Cleveland has been working over the past three years in order to combine his historical research with that of filmmaker, writer and producer Toni Lee.

Each segment has been broken down into a three part series, one hour each, starting with the difficulties of education and medicine during the 19th and 20th centuries. Believe it or not, doctors were often persecuted and ridiculed during the southern slavery years, which means that the various equalities that occur today are a recent act. Even so, not every hospital within the United States treats African American doctors equally, and so the fight continues. This documentary series, along with the radio show, aims to be aired on PBS sometime during the year 2008. If you wish to get involved with the project, visit www.blacksoutherndoctors.com.

Stop Sugar Shock!

Watch out for the “Ex-Sugar Shrew” she is out to get you! Connie Bennett had a huge problem in 1998, she was tired, irritable, sad, and completely miserable. In fact, Bennett had over forty-four different ailments that no doctor could diagnose. Finally, when she was at the end of her rope, she met one doctor who simply told her to stop eating candy and processed carbohydrates. It took all of her effort, but she finally managed to kick the sugar habit and today she is symptom free.

Connie is a published journalist, so she knew how to expertly research her new found cure – just to find the basic facts and a concrete reason as to why her sugar diet worked. She began the whole process by seeking out over 250 experts and grilling them on everything sugar related. She also recruited a team to help her comb over various medical studies in search of sugar proof. What was the outcome of all this research? Connie has recently published a book entitled “Sugar Shock!” (Berkeley Books), which should be a “must read” for any sugar junkie.

Shows featured on “Stop Sugar Shock!” include such subjects as “The ‘Ten Laws’ of Self Improvement,” “Help Yourself & the Environment By Becoming a Slow Food Fan!” and “Are You a Hypochondriac?” Tuning in to this show will certainly help you become aware of the many types of foods, diets, and nutritional information that is readly available, but not often utilized. Join Connie weekly for an interesting take on your health.

Swing Voter

Are you a voter that focuses on the issues, not on the individual candidates? If you have no particular political affiliation, but you happen to enjoy discussing politics regardless of party lines you may be considered an individual voter. Unfortunately, in many states individual voters (although they may be registered) are not allowed to cast a ballot during the primaries. More and more Americans are becoming individual voters simply because they do not enjoy the stigma associated with claiming to be a “Republican,” or “Democrat.”

Many of these independent voters will, in fact, pledge allegiance to one party or another simply to be allowed the opportunity to vote. An increasing number of Americans are beginning to switch from one particular political party to the status of an independent voter, simply because they feel that all of their views are not represented in one party or another. How many Republicans or Democrats can say that their party represents all of their views to the fullest extent? There is always one issue or another that may not reflect a voter’s entire thoughts or opinions, so these voters opt to vote independently – for the issue, not the party.

This is the stance behind the “Decline to State Voter” organization, and the talk show “Swing Voter” in general. This talk show will discuss the issues, not the parties, so you won’t hear any Republican or Democratic speak on this show – unless the debate is centered around whether or not the parties should exist at all. Issues such at ethics, animal rights, immigration, taxes, and education will be discussed, with the underlying theme of the independent voter behind it all. The aim of this show is to explain to all American voters that they have a choice, that they do not have to swallow a particular party’s abortion stance if they feel it is incorrect. Listeners often call in with numerous comments and arguments, so get ready for a heated debate.

True Outspeak

Who says that a modern day Socrates doesn’t exist? If you are looking to tune into a great political and philosophical mind, you will want to listen to “True Outspeak.” This show is hosted by non other than Olavo de Carvalho, a Brazilian philosopher that is known world wide for his differing views and opinions based on real life experiences.

Carvalho talks about the differences between humanity and collective authority, along with what the public can do to enhance the individual conscience. Carvalho uses ancient religions such as Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in order to emphasize his belief the power of human intelligence. Carvalho discusses international politics in his native language of Portuguese throughout his show, but his works are often translated on his website.

Not only is this man a radio host, he has also written many books, text, political papers, academic theses, conducted interviews, and taught courses at local Universities. Carvalho argues that American politics cannot possibly understand the full extent that the state of Brazil and its politics are in – therefore Carvalho is very critical towards American politicians.

This show is not for the politically weak of heart, but it is a great show to get any mind reeling. Carvalho has completely opened up his arguments to any form of discussion or attack, and fans can reach him on his show or via email. For an hour that is truly full of great thoughts, ideas, and opinions, tune in to ‘True Outspeak’ – or forever hold your peace.

Media Lizzy

If you are seeking placid, politically correct coverage of the upcoming presidential campaign, or anything politically charged, the Media Lizzy Show is not for you. However, if you would like to explore the world of politics in an uncensored fashion, tune in to the Media Lizzy radio show in order to hear about the world of politics from a host who is really – “just a girl.”

Media Lizzy (Lizzy Blackney) may seem sweet and innocent, but that is just one of her many ploys. This former political party and candidate mouthpiece has turned to radio to voice her true opinion about all things political. Some of Media Lizzy’s latest show have included subjects such as “The First Mistress, the First Lady & the Presidential ‘sex’ factor,” “America’s moral authority over human rights and other issues,” and “The most provocative 15 minutes of breaking political news and opinion.” In fact, all of Lizzy’s topic seem to have a sexually charged theme including the weekly “political quickie,” but mixing up sex and politics is just the type of thing that Media Lizzy is bound to do, so listen attentively, you never know what you may hear.

Though she has often been described as “provocative,” perhaps “contentious” is a better word. Although Lizzy sets out to voice her own opinion, she often incites heated arguments and strong debates based upon her own words. Her latest commentary consisted of an observation made on Barak Obama’s behalf, which included the words “big boy pants,” or – in Lizzy’s opinion – the lack thereof in Obama’s case. Smart, sassy, and intuitive her show is a must for any fan of the political world – whether you agree with her or not.

The LCS Hockey Radio Show

"The LCS Hockey Radio Show"… not since "Get Smart Again" have so few words meant so much.

LCS Hockey was a true internet pioneer. Established in 1994, LCS Hockey (www.lcshockey.com) was one of the first hockey sites on the internet, earning a large, loyal following due to its informative, yet entertaining, coverage of the National Hockey League. During its initial five-year run, LCS Hockey gained full media credentials from the NHL and won numerous awards and honors, including twice being named the best hockey site on the net by Yahoo Internet Life.

After a lengthy hiatus, LCS Hockey is born again, returning to life in February of 2006 to chronicle the new, post-lockout NHL. Now that the web site is reestablished, LCS is hitting the airwaves to further their quest for world domination.

Michael Dell and Jerry Fairish host each episode of "The LCS Hockey Radio Show," discussing more than just hockey, with typical broadcasts including everything from classic TV and movies to ranking the best breakfast cereals. Fairish, a two-time state hollering champion, is deathly afraid of balloons and has a penchant for soup. Dell, LCS Hockey's creator and editor-in-chief, is aspiring to be an author of actual literature and recently published a collection of mystery stories called "Honest John Churchfield." Dell also enjoys avoiding people, painting scenes from classic TV shows, and writing letters of apology. He hopes to one day find a box of money.

"The LCS Hockey Radio Show" can be heard every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Catch it now before it knocks you over.

Atlanta Braves Postgame

Whenever the Atlanta Braves take the field, you know you can hear all about it on the "Atlanta Braves Postgame" radio show. Hosted by Eric Midcap, a lifelong Braves fan and a sophomore at West Virginia University, each 30-minute show provides a daily recap of Braves games as well as a preview of upcoming matchups.

After having their record string of 14 consecutive playoff appearances snapped in 2006, the Braves have rebounded in 2007 to once again be in contention for first place in the hotly-contested NL East. Currently locked in a tight race with the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies for the division crown, Atlanta greatly improved its chances at the trade deadline, acquiring switch-hitting first baseman Mark Teixeira from the Texas Rangers and veteran reliever Octavio Dotel from the Kansas City Royals.

Dotel will bolster an ailing bullpen, serving as a reliable set-up man for veteran closer Bob Wickman. Teixeira is the true steal, though. The 27-year-old slugger has already mashed 155 homeruns in his young career, possessing power from both sides of the plate. He'll give the Braves a dynamic cleanup hitter in the middle of an already fearsome lineup that includes such proven stars as Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, and Edgar Renteria, as well as promising young hitters like Jeff Francoeur and Brian McCann.

The ageless John Smoltz continues to anchor Atlanta's starting rotation, getting considerable help from fellow ace Tim Hudson, who's having a remarkable year in his own right. Youngsters Buddy Carlyle and Chuck James have performed above and beyond expectations, allowing fans to dream of a return trip to the postseason.

Pewter Radio

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans can tune into "Pewter Radio" to get all the latest news and analysis of their favorite football team.

After a surprising playoff run in 2005, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers collapsed in 2006, finishing dead last in the NFC South with a pitiful 4-12 record and missing the postseason for the third time in four seasons. It seemed everything that could go wrong did go wrong, making the brilliant Super Bowl campaign of 2002 seem like ancient history. But the Bucs are back for 2007, with hopes of recapturing their championship glory.

Tampa Bay will have a new starting quarterback this season in Jeff Garcia. The 37-year-old signal caller had a career renaissance last year in Philadelphia and brings a thorough knowledge of Jon Gruden's West Coast offense to the Buccaneer huddle. Garcia's transition to his new team will be made easier if running back Carnell "Cadillac" Williams can regain his rookie form of 2005 when he rushed for 1178 yards and six touchdowns. Williams, who has been hampered by injuries for much of his young career, will be looking to pound the rock all season, running behind an improved offensive line When Garcia does put the ball in the air, he'll be looking for receivers Joey Galloway and Michael Clayton, although second-year man Maurice Stovall could also emerge as a playmaking threat. But if the Bucs want to return to the playoffs, the defense, led by the venerable Derrick Brooks, will need to set the tone early in season-opening contests against offensive powers Seattle, New Orleans, and St. Louis.

Whatever happens to the Bucs this season, "Pewter Radio" will have it covered. New episodes are broadcast live every Sunday at 6PM EST.

DC Fanatics

If the Dallas Cowboys are your team, "DCFanatic Radio" is your radio show, covering everything there is to know about America's Team.

The 2007 NFL season promises to be an exciting one in Dallas. New head coach Wade Phillips is replacing the legendary Bill Parcells on the sidelines, bringing a fresh new approach to a Cowboys team that never quite lived up to its potential last season.

Perhaps Phillips' biggest challenge will be mentoring quarterback Tony Romo, who will be in his first full season as the starter. Romo came off the bench last year to spark a tremendous revival over the second half of the season, but his numbers started to fade down the stretch and he suffered the ignominy of dropping the snap on an easy chip-shot field goal in the waning moments of Dallas' crushing 21-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the opening round of the playoffs.

If Romo can put that embarrassment behind him, he'll have plenty of weapons at his disposal. The enigmatic Terrell Owens is healthy and ready to silence his critics, looking to improve on a solid albeit inconsistent first season with the Cowboys. Owens and fellow receivers Terry Glenn and Patrick Crayton, not to mention tight end Jason Witten, have the potential to wreck opposing secondaries. The running back tandem of Julius Jones and Marion Barber will devour defenses and rack up yardage like few combinations in football.

On the other side of the ball, Phillips will bring his expertise of the 3-4 scheme to Dallas' defense, finding ways to best utilize big play game-changers like linebacker DeMarcus Ware, defensive end Marcus Spears, and strong safety Roy Williams.

The only thing that will hit harder than the Dallas defense is "DCFanatic Radio," which airs weeknights at 10PM EST.

The Christian Comedy Show

Host Tom Padovano has been performing stand-up comedy and writing comedic material used by such funny people as Phyllis Diller, Rodney Dangerfield, and Joan Rivers for almost 30 years now. He has also appeared on a number of cable comedy shows as well as writing humorous stories for publications as diverse as Beckett’s Baseball Card Monthly and Cracked Magazine.

According to one of his contemporaries, he is “so funny that you will laugh until you stop”, which accounts for his longevity in a business where a lot of talent disappears from the scene nearly as quickly as a Tonight Show monologue. Which, by the way, Tom has written many jokes for as well over the years. He claims to have met backstage with Joan Rivers at the Tonight Show three times, even once with her consent!

Padovano swims against the current trends in stand-up comedy by keeping his act free of profanity and he finds a way to make the audience laugh with his offbeat take on current issues, including cell phone ring tones, as well as getting a great deal of his best material directly from the Bible. His self-depreciating style is energetic, positive, and is easy for most people to relate to. And, since his style is not “preachy” he is able to connect with Christians and non-believers alike to share a good laugh or two.

In addition to his weekly Radio Blog he keeps himself busy, and his wits sharp, with a hectic schedule of live appearances in comedy clubs, churches, and even local YMCAs in and around his native New York City.

O’Brien openly admits that he doesn’t necessarily agree with American Film Institute’s choices of the top 100 movies and gives his reasons why he thinks his listing is a better reflection of the best of the best of the genre and presents his opinions in a non-confrontational and engaging style.

He opens each show with the latest in film news and then he moves quickly into current happenings in the world of film including details of little known, and sometimes offbeat, exhibits that help to bring the history of film making to a modern artist such as a schedule of regular screenings of Best Picture nominees that didn’t win and locations for showings of home movies of and by such film greats as Ester Williams, Steve McQueen, and Alfred Hitchcock.

As if the explosion of slick haired, fast-talking televangelists preaching non-stop on the television weren’t enough to save our eternal souls, Blog Talk has over 200 “radiovangelists” available to choose from.

So whether your preferred method of drawing closer to your God is through subjecting your naughty self to a pulpit pounding, hellfire and damnation preacher or to one of the silky smooth disciples of the “name it and claim it” doctrine you will have plenty of choices.

However, if you want to exposure yourself to some well researched and fully thought out Bible exposition, specifically on the topic of prophecy, Ancient Streams might be a helpful balm for your soul and provide some solid food for your brain as well.

Host Ronda Rocco doesn’t try to push her interpretation of the Bible nor her view of how God works through such circumstances of modern life as the 9-11 tragedy into your awareness, rather she takes a very low key and reasoned approach to explaining her understanding of how God handles His business in the chaotic world of today.

Her focus is on taking the Bible at face value and not reading too much into what is written there beyond a basic “taking God at his word” approach. Which is a very refreshing change of pace in a time when many other Bible thumpers of various faiths are so adept at turning the words written for ministry into a profit-making machine that support the minister’s personal beliefs and invariably lead their followers to the conclusion that the only way to get to heaven is to send the preacher some money.

You won’t find any “new” revelations on Ancient Streams, just a calm, peaceful, and peace-inducing view of the best-selling book of all time and how the words relate to our lives today.

My Relationship Answers

Emotional issues can so engage our minds that we will often lose our focus on the things that matter the most to us as well as having a negative affect on our professional life.

Host Dr. Molly Barrow, with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and many years of experience as a licensed mental health counselor provides effective answers to questions affecting the myriad relationships that exist between couples, individuals, families, and also businesses to assist in improving their communication skills, which is likely to improve those relationships.

Topics range from how to protect your children in the dangerous world of today to making peace with uncooperative co-workers as well as dealing with more general issues such as racism in society and the ever popular “getting over a broken relationship”.

As an accomplished author (Matchlines: A Revolutionary New Way of Looking at Relationships and Making the Right Choices in Love), article contributor to such esteemed publications as O Magazine, Psychology Today, AIA, GOP Forum, ivillage, Lavalife, MSN.com, Match.com, and Women’s Health, as well as running several websites, (http://www.askdrmolly.com/, http://www.drmollybarrow.com) Dr. Barrow’s open and approachable style to sharing knowledge is a welcome alternative for those who may be tiring of Dr. Phil’s smirking “how’s that working for you?” approach to dealing with life’s emotional challenges.

Barrow has also developed a series of self-tests that allow you to gauge the effectiveness of your current relationships and that will help you to find out what you are really looking for in future interactions, both personal and professional.

Overall, spending a few hours listening to Dr. Barrow is likely to be at least as helpful, and certainly far less expensive, than a great deal of face-to-face counseling. Just by themselves, the practical tips that she offers for protecting children are worth the time to check out her show and those couples who want to improve their relationship will almost certainly benefit from a “visit” with Dr. Molly Barrow.

Home Schooling 101

With the deteriorating level of education being provided by our public school system there has been a huge surge in the numbers of concerned parents who are choosing home schooling for their children. The reasons for the increase in home schooling are numerous and include not only the physical danger that kids attending public schools face today or the overall lower test scores that are being recorded on college entrance exams such as the SAT, but also the fact that studies show that in a 6 hour school day an average child can expect to receive less than 10 minutes of individual instruction as teachers are forced to deal with larger classes and must devote additional time per student to the kids who are causing problems.

There is a wealth of information about home schooling available today via the Internet and local community groups but nothing takes the place of getting the straight facts from someone who has been there and done that. Evan Miller is just such a person. She is a mother of six who has home schooled all of her children with three having graduated and three still in school.

Starting with the basics of how to set up your curriculum and schedule for your child’s grade level and moving along to developing that curriculum in the most cost-effective way, to how to deal with issues such as ensuring that your student learns appropriate socialization skills and specific methods to teach classes such as math, Mrs. Miller is a pleasant and knowledgeable resource.

By bringing in qualified guests to assist with a particular topic Miller provides an excellent starting point for those who want to start home schooling or can use some additional information and tools to provide a more effective and personalized learning environment for their family.

Shadows In The Dark

Hosted by Jeremiah Greer, one of the founders of the Eastern Paranormal Investigators Community, or E.P.I.C., covers a broad range of paranormal topics. For instance, have you ever wished that you could sit down a visit a bit with Elvis Presley? According to Dr. Gary Frick M.D., a recent guest on the show, you can. Dr. Frick also claims to have had extensive conversations with Mother Teresa, Abraham Lincoln and Johnny Carson among others and says that it is just as possible for you and me to talk to Frank Sinatra as to anyone else in the room with us right now. In fact, Dr. Frick has had so many conversations with the dead that he has written several books with their assistance.

Dr. Frick’s theory is just one of many topics of paranormal experience that Shadows In The Dark addresses. Other recent shows have covered (some might say “attacked”) the legitimacy of the Catholic Church and the existence of Bigfoot. Obviously not a program for the closed minded!

E.P.I.C. was appropriately founded on Halloween 2005 after a visit to a local cemetery during which Greer claims to have recorded 4 examples of what are known as “electronic voice phenomena”, or EVPs. An EVP is a disembodied voice that while inaudible to the human ear can be recorded on any type of tape or digital recording device and then played back at a later time. These recordings convinced Greer and his associate that the time was right to found the E.P.I.C. and the radio show is an extension of their interests in all things paranormal.

PibbleTalk-Pit Bull Radio

Over the past several years Pit Bulls have earned a very ugly reputation as vicious and bloodthirsty dogs that will attack and kill both children and adults alike. Often the breed of choice in dog fighting circles there is little doubt in many people’s minds that pit bulls are definitely not man’s best friend. Now the owners of a pit bull named Wallace that they rescued from being put down at the humane society are trying to share his story and dispel some myths about pit bulls in general with the hope of changing some of the negative feelings that many of us share regarding these dogs.

One way that the host, Roo, is going about this huge challenge is by discussing common misunderstandings regarding pit bulls and then providing the correct information regarding whether pit bulls are naturally aggressive, whether their jaws will actually lock together in a death grip, and that “bad” people own them.

Another major focus of the show is to fight against Breed Specific Legislation that is being enacted in some communities in order to keep pit bulls out of neighborhoods. Roo claims that the laws do little, if any, good as they actually encourage people to want to own pit bulls, sort of like a forbidden fruit thing.

Whether you know much about the breed or not or care about the issue one way or another, if you visit Roo and Wallace’s website you would be hard pressed to view the videos of Wallace at play and think that all pit bulls are dangerous. In fact, there is a growing use of pit bulls in law enforcement and as companions for the elderly and disabled.

It would seem that each dog is a product of its training, some are taught from birth to be aggressive while others can be raised to be as gentle and loving as any other breed and that is the message that Roo and Wallace The Pit Bull are trying to get out.

The PibbleTalk-Pit Bull Radio show airs Sundays at 7:00 PM (EST).

The Squatch Detective – Bigfoot Chasers

In the late 1960s artist Andy Warhol expressed his opinion that "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes." While not necessarily guaranteeing that “everyone” would achieve the level of recognition that Warhol predicted, the Internet and particularly the growth in popularity of www.youtube.com and www.blogtalkradio.com have allowed many thousands of average folks the opportunity to achieve some measure of fame. And due to the ubiquitous nature of the web, the possibility of reaching a worldwide audience is realistic, regardless of how offbeat the opinion of the presenter or the premise of the show is.

One such Blog Talk show that is gaining an audience is the Squatch Detective with host Steve Kulls whose focus is on serious research of the Bigfoot (also known regionally as “sasquatch” or “yeti”) phenomena.

With so many people having reported sightings of the huge, hairy ape-man across the world, plus the fact that a great number of apparently intelligent and “normal” people believe that the animal exists one would think that there should be some more substantial proof that what has been offered thus far. Kulls is adding his voice to the chorus of Bigfoot believers and is bringing many seemingly reasonable and mature guests to his show to discuss the latest sightings and hot topics in the world of Bigfoot research as well as providing access to a very well developed website, http://www.squatchdetective.com, that has a good collection of Bigfoot videos and news.

With some 20 other shows on Blog Talk discussing the Bigfoot question Steve’s show stands out due to its lack of sensationalism and interest in bringing a calm and reasoned approach to the search for proof as to the existence of Bigfoot.

The Squatch Detective is on at 6:00 PM EST Monday nights and the many archived shows are worth a listen for serious-minded Bigfoot researchers, whether skeptics or believers.

The Capital Fanatic.com Show

Since joining the National Hockey League in 1974, the Washington Capitals have yet to sip from the Stanley Cup. Yet even missing the playoffs in four of the past five seasons has done little to dampen the enthusiasm of the loyal Caps fan base. And now, thanks to "Capital Fanatic.com Show," those faithful fans have a place to talk hockey with others who share their puck passion.

Hosted by Washington native Allen Popels, who created the CapitalFanatic.com blog, the radio show will give a voice to Caps fans everywhere, letting them express their optimism and frustration with the current club, as well as remember the glorious past triumphs of such legendary Capitals as Rod Langway, Dennis Maruk, Mike Gartner, and Peter Bondra.

Hopes are high for the upcoming 2007-08 season. The Caps have retooled over the summer, adding free-agent centers Michael Nylander and Viktor Kozlov along with defenseman Tom Poti. Washington will also be welcoming prized rookie Nicklas Backstrom from Sweden. The slick playmaking center was drafted fourth overall in the 2006 Draft and will give the team yet another exciting offensive talent, joining sensational Russian snipers Alexander Ovechkin and Alexander Semin. And, of course, veteran goaltender Olaf Kolzig will return between the pipes, hoping to guide the young club back into playoff contention.

Perhaps the biggest news out of Washington, though, is the team's new uniforms that feature their original red, white, and blue color scheme and the classic "Capitals" crest. In harkening back to their past, the Capitals are hoping to forge a brilliant future. And the "Capital Fanatic.com Show" will be there to chronicle every slap shot, hip check, and clutch save along the way.
