Zoe Pound Radio

Music is a tough business- we all know this. If you’ve ever tried to sell yourself to a major label, attract fans, use your instrument to pay the rent, or even get a gig in a tiny coffeehouse where hardly anyone’s going to see you, you know that the competition can be fierce, and you have to take anything you can get. Zoe Pound Radio, run by self-named Mz Run Thangz, is a radio blog whose purpose is to get some exposure for independent musicians.

While certain episodes are titled “Gotta Eat” and focus more on giving advice to young musicians who need to figure out a way to balance art and life, most of the shows allow for user call-ins that let them perform live on the station. Certain shows have featured interviews with hip-hop artists and one thing the show can claim is a sense of continuation and an interest in new releases. The music you hear on this station probably hasn’t been heard anywhere else. Other times, people more involved with the business side of the music come on to give the listeners advice on self-promotion. People are featured to review the music and the director herself does so as well.

While there doesn’t seem to be any set pattern for when the show occurs, it does occur many times weekly, if not every day for a lot of days in a row. It’s been going on for a couple of months and happening nearly every day. If you want to get an edge on the latest in hip-hop, my advice is that you soar on over to Zoe Pound Radio and catch the latest tunes.
