The Christian Comedy Show
Host Tom Padovano has been performing stand-up comedy and writing comedic material used by such funny people as Phyllis Diller, Rodney Dangerfield, and Joan Rivers for almost 30 years now. He has also appeared on a number of cable comedy shows as well as writing humorous stories for publications as diverse as Beckett’s Baseball Card Monthly and Cracked Magazine.
According to one of his contemporaries, he is “so funny that you will laugh until you stop”, which accounts for his longevity in a business where a lot of talent disappears from the scene nearly as quickly as a Tonight Show monologue. Which, by the way, Tom has written many jokes for as well over the years. He claims to have met backstage with Joan Rivers at the Tonight Show three times, even once with her consent!
Padovano swims against the current trends in stand-up comedy by keeping his act free of profanity and he finds a way to make the audience laugh with his offbeat take on current issues, including cell phone ring tones, as well as getting a great deal of his best material directly from the Bible. His self-depreciating style is energetic, positive, and is easy for most people to relate to. And, since his style is not “preachy” he is able to connect with Christians and non-believers alike to share a good laugh or two.
